Referees and NSOs (Non-Skating Officials) are an integral part of derby. They make sure that the game is carried out safely and fairly. Skating officials practice their skills at all our regular practices. They do many of the drills that the girls do to keep their agility up. They may even engage in contact during a practice but just for fun. NSOs get to work on their skills during scrimmage practices where things are run just like they would be on bout day. They record all the stats during a game and take care of all the paperwork. All officials work hard at knowing the current WFTDA rule-set which is what SIRG plays under.
